Wayne High School
School Opening Information to be Released on September 5, 2020
September 5, 2020 is an important date for school reopening for West Virginia schools. The West Virginia Department of Education's color-coding system for school and school activities found at https://wvde.us/school-reentry-metrics-protocols/ will be updated at 9 PM on September 5, 2020. This update will determine school schedules for the upcoming school week.
If The County is Green or Yellow
If Wayne County is green or yellow when the update is released, school will begin on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 with the blended learning schedule originally planned.
If The County is Orange or Red
If Wayne County is orange or red, schools will be closed to students and will open the school year with remote learning. Athletic and extracurricular activities will be limited to practices only (orange) or cancelled altogether (red). All staff will report to work to begin remote learning. Schools will continue remote learning until at least September 12, 2020 (the next update of the color-coding system). If green or yellow on September 12, 2020, students would begin reporting school for blending learning on Monday, September 14, 2020. If orange or red on September 12, 2020, remote learning would continue the following Saturday and the next color-coding system update.
